Did you know there are more people in Japan surfing the web on their phone than people surfing using their PC based browser? How has the number one PDA, the Blackberry changed the way people interact online? Here's some crazy stats:
- 83% Check Email on vacation
- 59% Check Email the second it arrives
- 53% Check Email in the bathroom
- 59% Check Email in bed
- 37% Check Email while driving
- 12% Check Email while in Church
Websites need to address the fact mobile web access is mainstream and more and more users are looking for greater choice in the way that info is formatted. The answer lies in 100% separation of presentation from content. Content lies back end in XHTML format and how that content is laid out and presented to the end user depends on their device. Designers also need to recognize that there can no longer be 'one design that fits all models', but rather several designs with built in "presentation flexibility."
